A landmark shopping center, Cross County was one of the country's first open-air retail destinations and continues to be among the most successful open-air retail venues in operation. The 1-million-square-foot regional destination first opened its doors in 1954 and is considered a retail icon. The deal was closed by National Business Development Manager Tom Head, who says, "We are very excited to be working with Macerich, it's a great project for Barlo Signs. We got this job because we can offer Macerich something that is a rarity in business these days, the combination of a first class product and customer service that caters to their specific needs. This is what Barlo Signs has spent the last 40 years building its reputation on and continues to be something that we are very proud of."
The renovation and expansion of the center, with the tag line "New Look, New Experience," will introduce a contemporary architectural design, and Barlo's contribution will encompass both new and retrofitted mall signage for the entire location, which currently is at 225 individual signs and counting. The package includes the interior signage and the exterior signage, is a 100% rebrand, and includes three forty-foot-tall mall pylon signs, multiple monument-style signs, parking garage signage, and way-finding signage.
Barlo Signs has tried to keep the environment in mind by changing the illumination on this project over to 100% LED lighting, which will create substantial power savings for the owner over the lifespan of the signs and reduce the overall environmental impact of the project.
As this is a fast track project, Phase One of the garage is scheduled to open April 9th and has required precise project management. The entire project is expected to be successfully completed by the end of 2010.

Barlo Signs was recently awarded the redevelopment package for the Cross County Shopping Center, located at the intersection of the New York State Thruway and the Cross County Parkway in Yonkers, New York. The job was awarded to Barlo by Macerich, one of the nation?s largest owners, operators, and developers of major retail properties.
